How much time does it take to be a mentor?
The RMIT Career Mentoring program is designed to be flexible and work with your schedule. You can adjust your availability at any time by editing your 'availability settings' in your mentor profile. You can also choose whether you want to make yourself available to mentees for one-off mentoring meetings, 6-12 week mentoring partnerships, or both.
Why hasn't anyone contacted me to be a mentor yet?
Since the RMIT Career Mentoring program is primarily a mentee-driven program, the responsibility is on mentees (students and first-year alumni) to contact you.Make your profile stand out to prospective mentees by filling out with as many relevant details as possible. The more complete your profile, the more mentees can learn about you.
During "matching rounds" the RMIT Mentoring staff will partner all active students with a mentor that is a great fit for them. This happens twice a year.
Who can see my mentor profile?
Your mentor profile is visible to mentees and other mentors, however, your personal information, such as your email and phone number, is hidden from view.Do I receive any financial compensation as a mentor?
No, RMIT Career Mentoring is a volunteer-based program. How do I promote a job, internship or placement to students?
All job opportunities, internships, and WIL placements must be managed through the RMIT Career Connect Team.Contact the RMIT Career Connect team at careerconnect@rmit.edu.au
