Peer Support Program - Wellbeing Support by staff for staff.
Is there something on your mind? Not sure who to talk to?
Looking for someone to listen?
Talking to a Peer Supporter could help.
Please note that this is not the RMIT Staff Mentoring program. If you are looking for staff mentoring please click here.
The Peer Support Program is part of RMIT’s commitment to creating a culture of care through wellbeing support for staff, by staff. It offers casual, staff-to-staff support that promotes mental wellbeing, helps navigate life’s challenges, and encourages connection across our community. If you’ve got a lot going on, or simply need someone to talk to, RMIT Peer Supporters are trained RMIT staff who are here to listen, validate, and guide you toward helpful resources if needed. Support is offered in a way that’s safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental. They are not counsellors, simply colleagues who care and want to listen.
Peer support is human-focused, guided by the values of inclusivity and respect. It’s about being present, listening with empathy, and walking alongside someone during challenging times. Unlike mentoring, which is typically career-focused, peer support centres on promoting wellbeing, connection and care, not performance or progression.
The program sits alongside professional services like the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), offering a softer entry point for those who may not feel ready or need to access formal help.
You don’t have to face challenges alone.
About RMIT Peer Supporters
