Information for Students
One of our global Mentoring programs for all students and young alumni from RMIT University - Vietnam to be matched with industry professionals to explore their career options both in Vietnam and abroad.

|Matching process||Mentees and Mentors are matched via 3 different ways:
1. Mentees browse database and send out mentoring requests to mentors.
2. Mentees are recommended suitable mentors by the program.
3. Mentees attend networking events to be matched with a mentor.
The Mentoring opportunity
The Mentoring partnership will provide Mentees with a valuable opportunity attain advice and guidance from an industry professional on a wide variety of industry, skills and employment related topics such as:
- the soft skills needed in industry
- advice on how to find an internship
- job search skills
- a career path
The number of agreed Mentoring meetings is flexible, but it is expected a minimum of one hour per month contact time. The Mentors and Mentees can agree to meet more frequently or decide to email, or have phone or Skype contact between meetings. If both parties agree, the Partnership may be ended early if all questions are answered.
The Mentoring partnership process
Step 1: Mentor Matching
Immediately after the Mentee is matched with their Mentor, they have the opportunity to review their Mentor’s profile. The profile shows the level of support the Mentor can provide which ranges from career guidance to job shadowing, and in some cases, internships or graduate positions.
Step 2: The ‘Partnership Agreement’ and preparing for the Mentoring
A Partnership Agreement template will be sent to the Mentee. This lists a number of topics (examples are listed below) that may be of interest to discuss. There are also a wide range of resources in our ‘Mentee Resource Guide’ section to help you structure the meetings.
Step 3: Connect and meet with the Mentor
Now it’s time to connect with the Mentor via the Mentoring platform. Here the Mentee reaches out to the Mentor and arrange the first meeting and clarify any questions with the Mentor. The partnership begins with the initial meeting. The better the Mentee is prepared, the better the experience will be.
It is not recommended that Mentees ask Mentor about internships with their organisation if the Mentor profile does not specify “internships” as an area of support.

FAQs for students
Here are some answers to questions you may have about the mentoring program.
Yes, but not at the same time. You are welcome to connect with another Mentor after a partnership concludes by taking part in the Mentoring Express program.
We encourage students to discuss this with their mentor in the first instance. Identify the areas that they feel their interests are not aligned. For example are seeking insights into a particular job role that the mentor does not feel experienced enough to provide guidance? Seek advice and guidance by emailing us on firstname.lastname@example.org. We will provide our full support to resolve the situation in a positive manner for both parties.
If your Mentor is located outside of Melbourne, you may want to connect with them through “remote mentoring” via email or video conference technology such as SKYPE or Google Hangouts, or QQ International for example.
