How do I join the RMIT Career Mentoring Program?
The RMIT Career Mentoring Program has three intakes per year. Applications close 18th October, 2026 for our Spring-Summer 2026 intake.To join our next intake:
1) Complete a Student Application
2) Attend one Onboarding Training session
3) We will admit you to the program, and you can start sending connection requests to mentors
Note: If you participated in the Semester 1 or 2, 2026 programs, you do not need to repeat Onboarding for the Spring-Summer 2026 intake.
How do I connect with a Mentor?
Once you join the program, you can browse the profiles of our 500+ mentors and send connection requests.
For the Spring-Summer intake, you can send One-Time Meeting requests to any mentor you want to connect with. Schedule these to discuss a specific topic, or ask about the mentor's unique experience!
Note: that One-Time Meeting requests expire after 10 days, so if it has been a week and you haven't heard back from the mentor yet, let our admin team know and we can try to follow up.

RMIT Career Mentoring is about building your professional network, exploring areas of interest, developing your professional communication skills, and connecting your studies and career.
Please do not ask your mentor for a job or internship. RMIT Career Mentoring is not a direct resource for finding a job (although it does often help with this down the line).

Advice for Student Mentees
Before meeting your mentorThink about your career goals and write down any initial questions that come to mind. You may even like to send these questions through to your mentor prior to meeting, so that they have time to prepare their answers.
If you are completing a partnership, you should also let your mentor know how often you would like to connect. Our recommendation is to spend one hour per fortnight meeting with your mentor either by video-call or in person.
Approach any mentoring conversation with an open mind, professionalism, and respect. Be receptive to suggestions and feedback provided by your mentor.
